Conference attendees will once again have the opportunity to submit their best personal essays and reported narratives to the annual Ten Spurs Writing Competition. If you are interested in submitting to the Ten Spurs competition, the deadline for materials is August 9, 2023. You may enter more than one category. 

 

Winners will be recognized at the awards ceremony at the Mayborn Literary Nonfiction Conference. Cash prizes are mailed after the conference. 

 

The Ten Spurs contest will have two first-place winners, one in the personal essay category and one in the reported narrative category. First-place winners each receive $500 and will be published in the Ten Spurs literary journal. 

 

The top eight other submissions will be published in the Ten Spurs literary journal. 

 

Contest entry fee is $50 and requires registration for the 2023 Mayborn Literary Nonfiction Conference. Deadline to enter is August 1, 2023.
