For over eighteen years, the Mayborn Writing Conference has cultivated a platform for aspiring nonfiction authors to submit and gain recognition for their work. We are proud to present a new grand prize for the first-place winner of the 2024 book manuscript contest.

The Mayborn conference has partnered with Dallas-based published, Brown Books Publishing Group (BBPG), to create a first-of-its-kind, nation-wide opportunity, where the winner of the book manuscript contest will receive a full publishing contract with BBPG. The contest spans two-conferences, with submissions opening on May 1, 2023 and closing in the summer of 2024, or when the Mayborn Writing Conference has reached its submission cap, whichever comes first.

Contest entry fee is $50 and requires registration for the 2024 Mayborn Literary Nonfiction Conference.

Winner will be announced at the 2024 Mayborn Literary Nonfiction Conference.

NOTE: Any person who is employed full-time or part-time in any capacity with the Mayborn School of Journalism or Mayborn Graduate Institute of Journalism is not eligible to participate in any of the three contests.
