"The Mayborn Conference is without peer in the country as a gathering place for serious nonfiction writers aiming to practice their craft at the highest possible level. Any writers conference that devoted itself to literary nonfiction would be unique, but with its sheer star power and concentration of first-class talent, Mayborn sets the bar hopelessly high for any would-be competitor." – Jim Hornfischer, Literary Agent and Author The Last Stand of the Tin Can Sailors and Ship of Ghosts

Close Encounters of the Literary Kind – Session 1

This is an optional session for our conference attendees. The Mayborn Conference is offering you a rare opportunity to have a private consultation with a high-caliber literary agent to discuss your book ideas. Writers should come prepared to verbally pitch their book project, and have supporting material. If it is nonfiction, bring a brief bio and a short summary/query letter. If it is fiction, bring the first chapter and a synopsis. Our agents will give you their honest assessment, and offer suggestions for shaping your story into a proposal.

This consultation is limited to 15 minutes a session between 3 and 5 p.m. The fee is $50.00. Availability is limited, and writers will be chosen on a first-come, first-serve basis. The Mayborn Conference will notify you in advance by email the time and location for the consultation. You will be reminded of your assigned time at registration. Sign up during conference registration.
